We met at the National Horse Patrol Stables in late May, just before golden hour. It’s a spot Doug and Mary Katheryn had visited many times before together, making it the easy top choice for Doug’s Washington DC proposal location.

Doug reached out well in advance and we spent weeks planning, scouting, and working out all the little details so that when the moment came, all Mary Katheryn had to do was show up for what she thought was a dinner date.

Doug pulled out the ring box upside-down and Mary Katheryn jumped up and down and kissed him without skipping a beat.

Afterwards, we strolled down the tree line along the National Mall and took photos of the two of them together. Mary Katheryn couldn’t stop looking at her ring and Doug couldn’t stop looking at her; I think they make a pretty good combo.
